Meet The Artist
I am a celestial texture artist, YouTuber, and a sales specialist living in Houston Texas with my husband and two black cats! 9 times out of 10 after my artwork impacts viewers I’m asked one number one question! WHY SPACE STUFF? To answer simply space became my escape as a child being an avid daydreamer. Possessing an explorer spirit is within us all when it comes to the unknown. My artwork grasps viewers not only through the mystery of how it was created but because of that wondrous explorer spirit that connects us all whether we've been to space or not.
Artist Statement
From an early age, I've always been an avid daydreamer imagining I was somewhere other than where I was. An intriguing phrase or a simplistic word in a book unlocked a gateway that ignited my imagination. I would zone out becoming immersed in an imaginary world observing a unraveling scene similar to watching the magic school bus. A fun aspect acquired by my grandfather became a defense mechanism, triggered by difficult experiences in school. Everything I experienced as a child formed the artist became. I wanted to create a series based on daydreaming and pushing the boundaries of what people think should be. “ The Nostalgic daydream” series emulates a daydream sparked by reading. Combining various elements simulates transitioning from reality into the daydream state. Using 2d elements (acrylic, ink, glitter) and 3d elements (reclaimed wood and vintage magazines) imitates aspects people experience when experiencing a daydream. Aspects of reality remain while imagining a other realities within the daydream state. The 3D books represent reality while the 2D aspects of the artwork represent the mind’s eye. The narrative starts with opening 3D book with overflowing pages. Followed by 9 embellished paintings featuring abstracted book structures, until the story’s end signified by a closed book sculpture . Combining elements of painting, drawing, and sculpture aspects allows the viewer to become immersing into the book realm of the story. With this collection I want viewers to experience wonder inside the artist mind.
